ATP Masters 1000

Updated 2026-11-05

The ATP Masters 1000 is nine men’s tournaments. The winner earns 1,000 ranking points. They are not Grand Slams, and they are not the year-end ATP Finals. The browser game on the home page is a third, unrelated thing.

A Masters event is a full week or more on the main tour, with a large draw and a mandatory trip for most top players. Monte-Carlo is the exception still described as non-mandatory. Grand Slams are longer and worth more points. The ATP Finals, once called the Tennis Masters Cup, invites eight men at the end of the year. I keep that history on its own page so a 2004 Houston final does not sit in this table.

Two names people type are not in the nine. Beijing is the China Open, an ATP 500. Tokyo is not a Masters 1000 event. China Masters in September is a badminton tournament. I answer those here so they do not grow extra pages.

The calendar moves from North American hard courts to European clay, then back to hard courts in Canada and Cincinnati before Shanghai and indoor Paris. City names can be misleading: the Monte-Carlo venue is in France, while the Canadian men’s event alternates between Montreal and Toronto.
